Kota

 

The town of Kota was once the part of the erstwhile Rajput kingdom of Bundi. It became a separate princely state in the 17th century.

 

 An interesting amalgam of medieval grandeur and modern industrialization, Kota is popularly known as the industrial capital of Rajasthan. Situated on the banks of the Chamble River, the modern symbol of Kota’s development is evident in the fertilizer plant, instrumentation unit and thermal power plant and the nuclear research center located here.

 

The Kota stone is world famed. The Fair Ground in Kota is witness to a grand Dussehra Mela in October/November each year. Kota acquired the Hallmark of Rajput power as well as culture. Kota - an amazing juxtaposition of the majestic temples its untouched wealth of impressive forts, opulent palaces and splendid temples dating back over several centuries retain the past glory.

 

Education has become a major part of the city's economy. It has become a major hub for coaching for Engineering and Medical Entrance examinations, attracting hundreds of thousand students every year.
